About Sophia
Hi! My name is Sophia, and I am a board-certified music therapist. I have a master’s degree in creative arts therapies specializing in music therapy, and I completed my master’s research in anti-oppressive and anti-ableist music therapy. I also have a graduate diploma in music therapy and a Bachelor of Music. I have worked as a music therapist in pediatric, high school, and long-term care settings.
I work from an anti-oppressive standpoint, working from a strengths-based approach with all clients. While music serves as the foundation of the sessions, I also provide verbal counselling to discuss anything that emerges during or between the session(s).
I aim to create a safe and fun space for creativity, play, expression, and exploration within a therapeutic relationship. Music and creativity play a vital role in our health and well-being; through creative experience, we can find support and strength.
